Yamen Nawa is a Syrian visual artist based in Berlin, Germany.
His work explores transformation, identity, memory, and human connection. Through painting, he investigates the invisible forces that shape our inner lives and the relationships that define our journey.
Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, Nawa combines expressive gestures, symbolic imagery, and emotional depth to create paintings that invite reflection rather than provide answers. His artistic practice is rooted in lived experience, where personal stories become universal questions about presence, loss, belonging, and the search for meaning.
Each painting is approached as a space for encounter — between the visible and the unseen, the individual and the collective, silence and expression.
Combining figurative and conceptual approaches, his work employs symbolism and layered narratives to explore themes of transformation, separation and unity, conflict and reconciliation, displacement and belonging. Rather than offering fixed interpretations, his paintings encourage contemplation and personal engagement, allowing meaning to emerge through the viewer’s own experience.
His work has been exhibited internationally, including Dubai Art Fair (2014), Art World Art Street Dubai (2015), BRIDE Art Berlin (2023), and Expo Oslo (2024). In 2026, his artwork E-WEST was selected by the international jury of ARTBOX.PROJECT Zürich 8.0 and exhibited at SWISSARTEXPO in Zurich, Switzerland.
Nawa’s artistic journey began at an early age. He received several awards in Syria, including First Prize Nationwide in the Ruwad Al-Tala’i Art Competition, recognizing his artistic talent during childhood.
Today, his work continues to investigate the intersections of consciousness, identity, and human experience through a visual language that combines conceptual depth with emotional resonance.
